Why has no one integrated google maps as yet. like seriously wtf. If i buy something and i’m tracking with ups for instance and i check my gmail do you know what genius google does… to the top right they put “Track ups” with the number, all linked and ready to go Less typing for me the end user. Now thats thinking about your users.

What you need to do now is use Google maps to display the to and from points based on the packages current location and the destination. Seriously the technology is there PLEASE USE IT. Make your users more comfortable it’s never a bad idea. Step it up.

Alright, I haven’t made a blog entry in quite some time, and I realize that neither have the other writers. What happen nothing new happen in technology for the past 2 months? What about the Phenom debate? Intel’s announcements? AMD-ATI vs Nvidia… cho anyway

This post though after my 2 month sabbatical is aimed at ISPs. All of us have to go through them… well if it wasn’t for them none of us would have access to the internet would we? But how does your ISP treat you really? Well I can talk from a Jamaican perspective and say that we are treated like the extreme bottom of the pile people. Lots of our isp’s (especially the two major ones locally) dont even spend half the time or effort in developing solutions as they should, for the average subscriber.  But why dont they? I guess the regular average joe is important, only businesses require any amount of special service.

I write this because currently my ISP whom shall remain nameless has refused to repair my internet service which is now down for in excess of a month (or was it 2). What geek can really survive without the information available on the internet? I cant think of even one. I’ve been forced to live on other people’s internet connections and public wifi spots etcetera. And to add insult to injury my same ISP had the balls to send me a bill for last month’s internet usage (i think i managed to download about 8 mb worth of information last month… I normally do that in a matter of minutes). So of course the next logical choice would be to simply switch ISP’s, go to somebody who will at least show me some level of respect, right?

Well the only other choice I have advertises that they are the top alternative BUT they are not available in my area. In order to get their service I will have to wait until next year June or thereabout, what is the point of an islandwide advertising campain when your service is only available in one (small) part of the island? This is the BS which the average joe has to go through. So what do I do in the meantime? Now you all understand my predicament. I am now one of the weakest people in my mmo guild, i havent gotten to properly update my anime in a while and or my music library.

The only way I can assume I will get internet service sooner than next year June is if i can manage to somehow convince all the big businesses to open offices where I live and force some form of action… *sigh* anyway i’m tired, i have work to do and i cant bother wasting my time typing about people who dont even have enough time to fix a simple problem for me however I do hope that they remember, the businesses of tomorrow are started by the same average joes that are getting the shitty service today.

DX10 hardware is already obsolete….

REPRESENTATIVES from the almighty Vole have been speaking at Siggraph over the last few days, and what they’ve said hasn’t exactly lowered the blood pressure of many attendees.

Microserfs were there to espouse the greatness of DirectX 10.1, the next revision to the DX graphics spec, which is due to arrive with Windows Vista SP1.

Here’s the thing. DX10 hardware - such as the GeForce 8800 or the Radeon 2900 - won’t work with the new 10.1 features. The 0.1 revision requires completely new hardware for support, thus royally cheesing off many gamers who paid top whack for their new hardware over the last few months on the basis of future game compatibility.

But these gamers shouldn’t fret too much - 10.1 adds virtually nothing that they will care about and, more to the point, adds almost nothing that developers are likely to care about. The spec revision basically makes a number of things that are optional in DX10 compulsory under the new standard - such as 32-bit floating point filtering, as opposed to the 16-bit current. 4xAA is a compulsory standard to support in 10.1, whereas graphics vendors can pick and choose their anti-aliasing support currently.

We suspect that the spec is likely to be ill-received. Not only does it require brand new hardware, immediately creating a miniscule sub-set of DX10 owners, but it also requires Vista SP1, and also requires developer implementation.

I was with my friend today, she was babysitting her bf’s two kids. One of which is 13 yrs old. The “Mommy has trust fund, silver spoon, I know everything, never work for shit”, smart aleck kids that make you wanna beat them to death.

I think its about time this thing got updated..  This is a rant of sorts as well. I”m sick and tired of people not understanding what certain things mean online relative to online user behaviour.

1. You instant message someone and their status is set to online and they dont reply
   1. The person is bussy
   2. The person is not there
   3. The person is not gonna talk to you at the moment so stop messaging

3. Internet liars
   1. Another thing that annoys me.  I’m tired of people sending me stuff on msn look at my picture i took today. I took it last month or 2 months ago.. and the item in the picture is only 1 day old. Yeh.. its happened before. Its some sort of inferiority complex where they gotta feel good about them selves by doing things like this. Dont lie about yoru proficiency in anythign either. .. aka.. I know php, asp, mssql , mysqll, ruby and python. then you say. zeen so you can do inner joins well.. some time they’re tricky.. reply what are inner jions.. its a feature to represent a specific / desired view from a group of db tables using a query.. query / view whats that…… YOU FUCKING TARD YOU DONT KNOW SQL STOP LYING
4. Asking for help
   1. Learn to ask questions properly before you start complaining about your answers. Learn to research and stop being lazy s.o.b’s nothign disgusts me more than people that call me and nagg me on msn about trivial stuff that a simple google query could yield the answer to. If you dont wanna google or dont know how to be a google pro.. check some forums relative to your question topic.
5. Throwing someone into a msn group conversation without first asking them if they would like to join.
   1. Every night at approximately 9 or 10 pm some foolish kid from this tech forum throw like 20 people in a group chat to do abssolutely nothing. Now imagine your coding and all you hear is im sounds and the alert window is bobbing up and down up and down like a fucking chiwawa trying to get at a toco on a string.. Its annoying.. Subsequently the instigators of those group chats have been blocked and as a result i add nobody to my msn list. If i do the first thing i ask is where did you get my contacts from i hear techjamaica i say okay and i block.

I’m sorry for the cursing but.. its been happening alot as of lately and i’m really annoyed.

I think its full time people wake up.. and stop playing the fool. when cable and wireless treated us like crap and digicel entered the market place we all switched becasue of the value digicel introduced us to. New digital handsets, Text messaging that worked with minor delay time with great features like gprs and multimedia messaging to follow suit. However Cable and wireless hasn’t been sitting silently over the years. They have made huge progress in the mobile market, this is the result of competition. Competition must affect a company for it to re-evaluate how it does things and see if they can make a better / more competitive offer.

Currently digicel is raping the market. No cleaner or prettier way to put it. Literally Raping em. The irish sit pretty and just collect cash off our silly heads. Digicel’s rates are higher, Digicel chargest a disgustingly high rate on gprs data packages and they give away less than the other companies and they can no longer say they offer better service THIS IS NOT TRUE. A BLATANT LIE.

If memory serves me correct i think cable and wireless even implemented edge before digicel and i’m quite sure they still have a monthly package deal for their data services being gprs and edge. Digicel on the other hand rape you every time you use the service at a whopping 25 cents per data transfered and not downloaded as is thought by the masses. With cable and wireless i think its soemthing under 500 for the month if you use gprs.

People who use the gprs services form digicel heavily need to revolt. If you continue using gprs from digicel nothign will ever change they will continue to charge you 25 cents per kb until you die and rot. Take a stance. Stop using it. I’m not saying buy a cable and wireless phone.. I’m saying boycot digicel. If i could take my number that i have on digicel to c and w i know for a fact i’ld be gone a long time ago cause i’ve had this sim card since highschool.

Honestly digicel you really irk me.. disgust me even. CUT THE BS AND BE FAIR. Your selling data phones and setting rates that discourage people from using the data services. a double edged sword/cutlass or whatever ya’ll can relate to.

Today i got into a heated debate. This kid brought his new dell system for me to fix his wireless in ubuntu. Howeverhe has a wireless N card… using a new chipset as N cards are still fairly new / non standard as i’m sure you know without how the hardware vendors are relative to linux it takes forever for the developers to make drivers as they gotta reverse engineer the windows drivers to developer linux version or extend ndiswrapper with the abiity to utilize the windows drivers for the card.

Now another person that was there (very closed minded windows user might i add which you will see from his responses / stance) who only uses windows and nothing more. started his bullshit. ” oh i know why its not worrking because linux is shit” so i try to expliain what i just said. He says still its because linux is stupid and things just dont work as they do in windows “trying to speak sense to him just didn’t seem to work” so i gave up.. I really hate speaking to people like that. Despite getting a logical answer they still hold on to thier ridiculous notions..

he then asks why is it that the vendors only give mirosoft drivers as of to say, Clearly its because windows is better. I stated because its the more popular operating system. Howeveer he vendors aren’t that smart because if they developed for both operating system they have more to gain and nothing to lose actually. more users would end up using / buying their devices as linux users would then trusst the device becaause they know they wont have headaches to get it to work. Also tried to explian that when the vendors ddothings like that it stifles the growth of linux (a completely free and ever changing and now with ubuntu extremely user friendly to the point where basic users might be able to comfortably use it) still at the end of all that “linux is rubbish and things just dont work” i didn’t know what else to say. I just stopped arguing as it was like trying to out fire with gasoline. Explained to the guy with the laptop that he probably wont have wifi for another few weeks and called it a day.

Internet to get .asia addresses

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, which oversees domain names, approved the .asia domain name last October after beginning negotiations in late 2005. Now, DotAsia Organization Limited has announced that the first net addresses ending in .asia will be assigned towards the end of 2007. The non-profit group, representing countries including China, Japan and India, will start giving names to governments and registered trademark holders in October, and follow up with companies in mid-November. Potential registrants must be based in Asia, including Australia and New Zealand. Asian internet users can now use a name reflecting their country of origin but DotAsia wants “to become a nucleus, intersection and breeding ground for internet activity and development.”

Asia is already the single largest region for internet traffic, the group’s website said. Citing information from Alexa Web Search, it said 13.6% of the traffic going to Yahoo, MSN and Google comes from Asia, compared with 12.5% from the United States and 7.7% from the European Union. “Will this translate into traffic to .asia domains? Not on Day 1,” DotAsia said on its website. But it added that, given the Asian population, rapid economic growth, and number of internet users (about 400 million, compared with 253 million in North America), an address in Asia will be a valuable asset. DotAsia plans to treat all company applications as though they were received at the same time, and if two or more applicants want the same address, it will auction the name.

on this topic i’ld like to ask who in the name of All that is sane and logical came up with jamaica’s country specific domain name. The idea of “.com.jm” to me honestly makes no sense. Why isn’t it like the other set (.de .co.uk and so on) with nothing of the .com.. A kid i know personally emailed the registrar in jamaica which is located in montego pay it seems. As he was directed there and not to uwi (which is where it was initially handled). He has gotten no response from them and he’s emailed them from about march i think, roughly 3 months ago. kid has a wonderful vision of jamaica relative to an internet standpoind but stifled by the powers that be and their limited visions. how the old fashioned can sometimes not see 5 minutes pass their own noses. with thier Brick Morter and print mentality when they transition into the digital age they try to apply the same principles when it just simply will not work. I hope jamaica someday change theirs to comply with international standards like the newly found .asia.. change the damn thing to .jm dammit. n stop being stupid.

This is the exact reason why i have said and will always say that no matter what, Nintendo will ALWAYS be the PREMIER game manufacturers ever, TO ME! Reason being, Nintendo always focuses on gaming! It has been this way from the nes come straight up to the wii. Nintendo has always focused on the experience of the gamer. Lots of people disliked the n64 controller because of some random and stupid reason, when the n64 controller was the only controller that was made for ALL games. If you dont believe me, check out the wii controller that the world has been raving about. Doesnt it look similar to the n64 controller as in the part that u hold and direct the character with???? Exactly!!

Console manufacturers all over can come up with these multi purpose consoles that can play dvd movies, browse the internet, and wipe my ass when I’m on the toilet. But does that necessarily mean the gaming experience is better? NEGATIVE! The majority of us gamers buy a system because we want to play games, not because of the internet capabilities, and for all you people that say its cheaper, stop lieing to yourself. You can get a dvd player for $1000 and less jamaican, you can get a computer that can browse the internet for $10-15000 jamaican and you can buy a roll of toilet paper for $30 jamaican, which makes much more sense than spending $500 on something that wont give u the same experience unless u spend another $3000 on a plasma tv and 300 dollars on accessories and games.

Nintendo focuses on games, thats why the wii came out costing less than us$250 and able to run on that little $500 dollar or less CRT tv that you have at home and u will still enjoy your gaming experience. That is what Nintendo focuses on and that is why I salute nintendo for their continued development of GAMING!

This development kit will spurn a new style of gaming where people can now create their own games. The gaming industry has just evolved, thanks to the company that basically started the industry (I didnt say the started it. They were the main factor that started the growth of the market).
