Blog by cyberpunk  Blogging in Geekstory

I had what i’ld call the most annoying conversation I’ve ever had in my entire life via skype the other day. Some random prick sent me this huge message. after reading the first few lines i noticed its spam. Being fedup with the amount of assholes that send me unsolicited promotional crap via skpe i gave him a peace of my mind. See the convo below

Did you thought how you can make money without investing a cent? The solution is easy. By publicity. There are a lots of sites who pay their visitors and now is time when you will be payed . Follow the steps below and you’ll have great earnings :1. First you need to copy the following address in to internet explorer bux.to/?r=adosboss . By receiving this invitation from me , you will get a bonus at your registration because I am a Premium Member .
2. The next step is to click on the green writing “Join now and receive a $0.05 Sign-up Bonus” and register. At the Referrer section it should be wrote “ adosboss “ so you can receive your bonus .
3. After you made your registration, you can now enjoy making money on this site by clicking on “ Surf ads “ . There will appear between 15-20 links which you need to click on them every day so you can receive money for each of them. For wach link you click you need to wait 30 seconds to validate it.
4. If you make all that you can win 100$ every month, but if you want to to more than that you should invite other people to do what you did .

The DIY Guide to Becoming a (Real) Cyborg

Blog by Jamaipanese  Blogging in Geek N U, Geek Tech, Geekstory

A scientific duo at Tel-Aviv University discovered this past month that the injection of a chemical stimulant into an artificial culture of live neurons at crucial points in time could create an environment that can store multiple rudimentary memories. While many individuals might be disturbed about the fact that artificial intelligence has become a reality, advocates might applaud the scientists’ conclusion that chemical stimulation may be crucial to learning about memory formation in living organisms. Still other individuals might wonder if a middle ground in this debate about artificial intelligence is possible, or if any semblance of humor can be injected into a serious subject to lighten the atmosphere.

Individuals who resist the artificial intelligence development often believe that this technology bodes nothing but evil, especially if research falls into nefarious hands. Others are grateful for this research. Witness Jesse Sullivan, an electrician who accidentally touched an active cable that contained 7,000-7,500 volts of electricity in 2001 and, as a result, lost both arms at the shoulder. Since then, he’s become the recipient of a ‘bionic arm’ created by scientists at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. His experience, while truly unique, may help others lead active lives in the near future with these life-like prostheses.

The middle ground, perhaps, comes when society realizes that progress is inevitable, “evil” may exist alongside altruism, and — while hindsight is 20/20 — a little foresight and humor can help to create a gray area for a future where machines may outsmart a Mensa member. Even if you live on a limited budget, you can try a few of the following ideas on for size. Who knows? You might decide that you enjoy being less human and more resistant to all the limitations that the flesh endures.

a new domain is born .asia - Will jamaica ever correct the .com.jm mistake to .jm

Blog by cyberpunk  Blogging in Geekstory, Rant a Geek

Internet to get .asia addresses

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, which oversees domain names, approved the .asia domain name last October after beginning negotiations in late 2005. Now, DotAsia Organization Limited has announced that the first net addresses ending in .asia will be assigned towards the end of 2007. The non-profit group, representing countries including China, Japan and India, will start giving names to governments and registered trademark holders in October, and follow up with companies in mid-November. Potential registrants must be based in Asia, including Australia and New Zealand. Asian internet users can now use a name reflecting their country of origin but DotAsia wants “to become a nucleus, intersection and breeding ground for internet activity and development.”

Asia is already the single largest region for internet traffic, the group’s website said. Citing information from Alexa Web Search, it said 13.6% of the traffic going to Yahoo, MSN and Google comes from Asia, compared with 12.5% from the United States and 7.7% from the European Union. “Will this translate into traffic to .asia domains? Not on Day 1,” DotAsia said on its website. But it added that, given the Asian population, rapid economic growth, and number of internet users (about 400 million, compared with 253 million in North America), an address in Asia will be a valuable asset. DotAsia plans to treat all company applications as though they were received at the same time, and if two or more applicants want the same address, it will auction the name.

on this topic i’ld like to ask who in the name of All that is sane and logical came up with jamaica’s country specific domain name. The idea of “.com.jm” to me honestly makes no sense. Why isn’t it like the other set (.de .co.uk and so on) with nothing of the .com.. A kid i know personally emailed the registrar in jamaica which is located in montego pay it seems. As he was directed there and not to uwi (which is where it was initially handled). He has gotten no response from them and he’s emailed them from about march i think, roughly 3 months ago. kid has a wonderful vision of jamaica relative to an internet standpoind but stifled by the powers that be and their limited visions. how the old fashioned can sometimes not see 5 minutes pass their own noses. with thier Brick Morter and print mentality when they transition into the digital age they try to apply the same principles when it just simply will not work. I hope jamaica someday change theirs to comply with international standards like the newly found .asia.. change the damn thing to .jm dammit. n stop being stupid.

Cut throat Bill and Naive Steve

Blog by cyberpunk  Blogging in Geekstory

The age old war. Which ended along time ago from my perspective but still rages on between the end users of the mac and microsoft camp. One saying I’m better, the other saying *smiegel like voice* you stoles it from us. It being the window based gui for the personal computer. The truth of the matter for those who do not know is Apple didn’t come up with the window based gui concept either. It was non other than red herring, I mean Xerox. Xerox developed the window based gui the mouse and everything. On presenting it to the board of the xerox company the product just wasn’t accepted. Naive Steve heard about it and got the chance to look at it. After seeing the gui he saw endless possibilities and included the xerox developed gui with modifications in the release of lisa apple2 pc.

Cut throat Bill Eventuallly caught wind of what apple was doing and made his way to Appless offices and by way of promising software development from Microsoft for the apple operating system he was given 3 of the unreleased lisa computers for toying with. What cut throat bill basically did to Steve is what Steve did to xerox just with a little less transparency. He analyzed the mac gui took what he wanted and integrated it in to his windows operating system. In the end Bill even lived up to his side of the bargain and delivered his software which he promised to develop for the mac operating system (microsoft office etc). So if anybody was to bitch and wine it should be xerox not Naive Steve.
