Well you all know the situation. Your at work and your boss comes to you and says “You Geek boy, make a presentation on how geeky you really are” and of course the first thing you say is, “ok boss” and you think to yourself. Wow this is gonna be a breeze.
You open up powerpoint (or whatever presentation software) and you start your work. After 30 slides you realize, the presentation is boring and it will probably put the whole room to sleep, you make the presentation flashy, things blink, things jump, things change colour but its still not flashy enough. You give the presentation though and as predicted half the room is sleeping by the time u reach page 10. When you are finished, everybody gives u congratulations on a good presentation but you know they are just encouraging you, you vow to do better on the next one…
Well I have stumbled upon a program that allows you to make your presentations at least 40% livelier. A little program by the name of Vox Proxy. Now firstly, this program is only compatible with Powerpoint (sorry Cyberpunk), and thats not much of a negative becuz 80% of us work in a windows only environment. What this program does is, it adds a little character (or a number of different characters) to your presentation and allows you to set a script for the presentation in which you and your listeners can interact with your presentation like you are talking to somebody for real. Because its a voice synthesizer its a little challenging to get pronounciations just the way you want it, but when you do, you will be more than satisfied with your work.
Not only do these characters talk, they also move around and have various different actions and move around the presentation at your command and every character has at least 50 different actions to make and limitless words because they say anything you want it to say.
I have created a script in this program that has fooled people that I was speaking with the computer and have even gone as far as to make the program interact with people by setting a few lines and picking which one to say while the program is running. This program is an extremely good and well thought out program.
My only negatives about the program are that firstly the voices sound… well robotic, it is expected though as no synthesizing (publicly available) has reached the level of sounding completely human. But all is not lost, the full version of the program comes with an expansion that allows the use of voices called the at&t voices which sound very close to human and unless you want to talk to a robot then this is something u need to get to get. My other gripe about this program is the fact that I find it hard (and still do) to get the presentation to run on other computers. Basically the problem is, in order to run the presentation you have to have vox proxy installed on the computer (basically 30 mbs, not that big), or you have to have the vox proxy player installed on the computer (same 30 mbs) I find however that sometimes I will run it and characters wont come up and all forms of stuff, but I have really rushed into the program without reading the instructions, so that is something I will figure out soon. All in all though this program is excellent, if we were rating the program, I would give it a score of 4/5.
Screenshots will come soon
