Awesome tips! One i'd like to add. "Know thy enemy and know yourself"
Namely try to learn other players weaknesses so you can exploit them. eg: will they run or charge when loosing. Granted this is way easier done when playing friends. Conversely, what are your weakness? Knowing them you can cover them and play to your strength to compensate.

Sweet list Skillachi. I like to see tips and advice like this. Although you have stated you are no pro, but one heavily laden with relevant exp, sharing knowledge like this is great for noobs looking to sharpen their competitive edge! Keep it up.
