alll right.. point taken. lol.. I definatley do get your point. But um.. ldap really isn’t applicable to joe noob in my humble opinion if joe noob is messing with ldap he needs to research. because he’s trying to elevate to the level of l33t15m.

And Like i have said in previous posts
The distro’s getes easier as time elapses. Ubuntu is proof of this. Times gone by you had to run to the terminal for everything with ubuntu there’s more administrative gui interactivity and thats the solid truth.

Shuttle worth and the ubuntu foundation has promised that with gutsy things will only get simple.. joe noob will be able to enjoy a default composite desktop environment with no difficulties to setup at all.

Tell me that aint easy. as far as joe noob user level is concerned he needs nothing more than basic browsing, email and eye candy. if joe noob goes over that then I dont know if you can safely call him joe noob, more like joe intermediate and when he touches ldap he becomes joe l33t.

Tru dat, however my point wasnt just about ldap it was about installations on a whole. But i do pray that ubuntu improves on its user friendliness. I think linux has too much to offer to have a userbase of only .7%

Your kidding though right. You do know of synaptic… right.. or Adept. The package manager are super simple.. easier to use that if you wanted to instal an application on windows

you search for the description or the name of the application. you click on it. you click install from the little context menu that pops up and then you click apply and your done..

how is that not simple

double click .exe file…

I do know about the package managers CP but what i’m trying to say is some things still require a little more work than some. Remember i post this as an intermediate level linux user.

I have been saying that about Linux for at least 8 years. Granny from hoboken, who uses autorun to install “Quilting for fun n Profit” will never use Linux.

Linux users take an obscene pleasure in the fact that as far as ease of use is concerned, you need to see data streams like Neo to be effective.

a little more work yes.. too difficult for a windows user no.

You can double click a package to install it just like you would double click an exe on windows.

for rpm based systems double click the rpm and so on
