There’s some history behind the reason why the xgl compiz project which started out from suse linux was forked. Some of the developes left and started Beryl a derivative which delivered the same composite desktop with similar if not the exact same features (same if you ask me). Compiz quickly died out and beryl took over. It seems however that the two projects have remerged to form compiz fusion. Which kicks quite a punch in composite desktop features and plugins than any of the two (beryl or compiz) did before.
Two teams are definatly better than one.
See compiz fusion in action for your self.
They have already throw up a compiz fusion forum for the project. So there is community support underway. This is definately a project I’m gonna do. Even if I turn the features of within 2 days after i do it. Just to say I can do that. :p
