In this day and age its hard to think about the internet and not think Google. I wish i could get a count for the amount of people who have Google as their index page. Millions I presume. Anyway. There’s been a rumor for quite some time now about Google developing a mobile device called the Google switch which would be like the mother of all mobile devices featuring all the key Google services such as mobile google maps, mobile google calendar, mobile gmail, mobile froogle, mobile google reader, igoogle / google personalized home page and do not dare forget the gmail java applet which gives the user a real rich email format. which I cannot live without on my Smart phone device.
Alot of people believe that google will really develop a mobile device, the question to really ask is not when but why?. A few believe that based on the fact that google continues to roll out so much well developed mobile web applications and java midlets that they must be developing a phone for it to run on. The premise under which they assume it is is clearly a logical fallacy.
That is the Steve jobs way of thinking (now I’m not saying jobs isn’t smart) Microsoft made an operating system to run on other peoples hardware Google will do similar. They’ll create mobile apps and mobile web applications for utilization by any cellphone platform. Simply put they realize that the future of communication really will be moved to the mobile platform. People without the need of heavy computational power that say a programmers or web designers would use will no longer need a computer.
The switch isn’t real and if Google really went there that may not be the smartest move on their part. To delve into the realm of mobile hardware technology for the sake of doing what. getting your applications on the mobile platform? a feat which Google has long been doing and will probably increase in doing with the rolling out of more well developed mobile applications.
