Palm has debuted its secret developed device. The Foleo, a laptop and smartphone go between. (a really slim and small laptop). From palms perspective its for those times when you need more than your palm smartphone’s querty for document processing or whatever it is your doing that is so urgent for you to whip out a mini laptop to complete the task.

Why not just buy a road warrior laptop (ultra portable) and use that with the palm’s syncing software via bluetooth. Technically thats all i’m seeing the foleo do. The devices is 100% uneccessary. The device runs a linux operating system (yay), I’m unsure however if this is a custom creation by palm which just runs on the linux kernel or its a derivative of a popular distribution such as ubuntu or opensuse etc. There isn’t information on the capabilities of the foleo other than it can send emails, documents processing, view photos and browse web pages which syncs with your smart phone immediatly via bluetooth I’m sure its capable of more, for the foleo’s sake I hope so.

The form factor is kind of sweet but I wouldn’t shell out my $599 on the foleo not today not ever. Too pricey, Too little features and not to mention all the bad experiences I had with my palm os days which led me to be a windows mobile user.
