interesting fatfox. Thanks for the clarification. However why is it that orkut doesn't work well. at least for some people. I've met more than one users that have expressed strong spirit of "wtf is wrong with this thing" from having the same experience as I have. Hero or not he needs to fix that web app.

Okay, a couple of things that may (or may not) interest you -

First off, Google did not 'buy' Orkut, it was developed internally buy a chap called, funnily enough, Orkut.

I've met him, in Sky Bar (Hotel Unique) in Sao Paulo, and I have his business card.

He apparently works as a 'Product Manager', however he also has near hero status in Brazil as Orkut is the social networking tool of choice there.

Go into any internet cafe, and the most prominent icon is ALWAYS a direct link to Orkut (they pronounce it OOrcoootchie, by the way. Bless them.)

I read somewhere that around 80% of the Orkut users are Brazzas, and I have yet to meet one who does not have an Orkut account. So word of mouth clearly does work, although if you're not Brazillian, it's a bit of a waste of time.

Oh, and Orkut didn't necassarliy develop it whilst he was at Google, either, hence an ongoing lawsuit.......

Anyway, if you want to piss him off you can always call him on his cell phone, (whatever the code is for California) 650 888 5822 and ask him what he thinks.
