As many may already know pidgin the final version has been released for a few days now. Pidgin “pidge - in” - a multi protocoled instant messaging client which is actually a re-themed successor to gaim “game”. Pidgin features the same basic features as gaim 2.0 beta just a new color scheme, new smiley pack, new icons but no new sounds (the sounds are fine anyway). The color scheme for the default theme is purple with green circles as the buddy icons. There also exists a plugin pack for linux systems which extends the default plugins which is already pretty extensive if you ask me in comparason to gaim’s available plugins in linux of days gone by.

My favorite of the plugins is probably the notify by popup similar to msn’s notification on sign in and new messages from someone on your buddy list. Based on the fact that my system volume is mainly low or if its turned up i mute my im client the notification box helps alot.

pidgin rocks and I”ld like to point out that there’s an unofficial portable version of pidgin created by ady. He’s been accused of embedding a key logger in the app so use at your own risk. I honestly think thats bullshit so I’m using it anyway. Not saying its impossible but people talk alot of shit if you know what I mean. If your completely lost to what the hell portable apps is, and i qoute from portableapps.com
