yep bye bye u3 hello PAPPs. I've even found a version of pidgin and notepad+ for portable apps even thought they arent' listed on the site. Sadly the aforementioned apps aren't bundled as a .paf installer. You gotta drop em in the portable apps dir of the thumb drive manually.

For piginportable copy the pidgin dir and paste that in the portableapps directory. Do the same for notepad+ / notepad2

I'm contemplating getting into understanding how portable apps are made. I might port a few things that I would love to see work from the menu example winscp. It is already a stand alone client but There's no portable apps installer for it.

what is pidgin you ask? it is the successor to one of the better multi protocoled instant messaging clients out there. "gaim". Pidgin is gaim 2.0 final with complete re-branding.

another interesting point i left out of my initial entry.. the file structure organization of the portableapps platform is superior. way more organized. I actually noticed that i created the missing directories on my u3 drive just out of habbit.

Interesting. I have my U3 Drive for about 3 Months and none of my apps die...the Menu, doesn't work for me on Linux or Mac OS X systems and won't be detected if the security feature is enabled.

The big problem I have is that the files aren't organized like that on a Portable Apps Drive (eg. My Documents, My Vidoes, My Pictures, etc...) That I like. There is also a bug in the Portable Apps menu that there is supposidly a fix for to make it auto-run once plugged in. The fix has never worked for me.
